Where does Mercy4all stand for?

Foundation

The Mercy4all organisation has been founded at July 2nd, 2004 at notariskantoor Hermans & Schuttevaer Notarissen in Utrecht.

History

At the end of 2003 God brought some young people together with their activities and wishes to work for Him. These activities needed a structural organisation. Of course we may expect the blessings of the Lord on His own work we still have to use the available possibilities to maximize our efforts.

Wilfred Schenk (currently working in Paraguay for Mission Generation with his wife and child) went to Bolivia for a year to work for the Timoteo Organization (their mission is with street children). In order to do this a lot of work has to be done: financial, ensurance and spiritual preparations.

Martijn Schenk (working for Mercy4all) has gone through a process with God during his illness in 2003/2004 that resulted in giving up a day per week that is now spend on the work for the kingdom of God.

Rob van Rosmalen (working for Mercy4all in The Netherlands) came in contact with Wilfred and Martijn and also experienced a call from God to support both. He supported Wilfred in his year of preparation to go to Bolivia and Martijn with his work for the Timoteo Organization including the development of their website.

Besides those practical issues there was also an open future. A future in which God wants to give his blessings serving others and through that Himself. The vision was an organisation giving us the opportunities to work together. A change to start something new without being bound to existing frameworks.

Our name...

Coming up with a good name for our organisation was not easy. Eventually we came across Mercy4all, meaning: mercy for everybody. With this name we want to point out that the reason we are here to live is mercy. These blessings, received from our God and Father, we don't want to keep for ourselves but share with everyone crossing our path.

Goals

Our formal goals are defined as follows:

  • supporting people and activities that serve the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • sending people who want to be servants to the gospel of Jesus Christ within our organisation structure and who can and want to use it
  • setting up activities that serve the gospel of Jesus Christ as far as this crosses our path (Isaiah 61:1: The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound), furthermore all in any way related to this
